You can improve well-being by shifting focus to controllable aspects of your life.

What if what you are trying to control right now is actually out of your control?

Think about a time when you tried to control something that was out of your control. How did that feel emotionally and in your body?

In this episode, we dive into the surprising ways you may have more influence over your life than you realize. We’ll explore how shifting your focus to the things you can actively shape, rather than getting caught up in what’s beyond your reach, can lead to a more balanced and fulfilling life.
Maria, Elizabeth and Tara, the healing trio, share personal insights and practical tools while navigating the fine line between what we can influence and what we need to release.

From dealing with unpredictability to the bigger challenges like managing our emotions and external expectations, we break down what it really means to focus on what’s within our power. Whether it's controlling your diet, body shape, or other people's behavior (hint: you can’t), this episode will guide you to refocus your energy on what really matters.

In this episode:
Understanding what’s in your control vs. what isn’t.
The “Post-It Note” tool for prioritizing and differentiating between what you can and can’t control.
Can you control your emotions? Hint: No!

Grief Sucks. Period.

Grief is messy, cumulative and does not have an expiration date. The most important thing to heal from grief is taking care of yourself and knowing that there's no right or wrong way to grieve. Therapy and other healing practices may help with emotional wellness.

In this episode, Maria and Tara are joined by Marna Brickman, a licensed clinical social worker, grief specialist, and co-owner of Guiding Therapy, a mental health practice located in Annapolis, MD. They discuss various types of grief, including the loss of loved ones, health, jobs, pets, and even the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and how these impact mental health. Oftentimes, grief is not talked about openly so many people do not think it is normal to feel – we are here to reframe that.

Marna shares her work on how she is working to normalize talking about grief and all the feelings that come with it. If you are experiencing grief, please know that you do not need to do it alone. Reach out to Marna if you need support in Maryland, or reach out to a therapist in your area.

In this episode:

How to respond to grief
Your feelings when it comes to grief are all valid - Grief is messy and does not have an expiration date
